Got The "T" Part Down In GTL...

Thursday, December 22, 2011

I went on a beauty adventure today... I went to a tanning salon and tanned in a machine for the first time in my life. Why did I do this you ask? Well, my beautiful tan from Aruba/going to the beach with Erin all summer has faded and I refuse to be a pasty bridesmaid at the wedding next month. And since I will not be traveling to a tropical country between now and then, going to a tanning salon was my only option...

I went to your standard tanning salon chain, got the second most expensive package because we (Erin and I) got a new client 30 day special and we went tanning. I opted for the stand up tan, while Erin went with your standard lie down bed.

It was an odd experience, not bad but odd. For my first time they told me to do seven minutes instead of the normal ten minutes in my particular machine. I stood up, held on to the bar above my head and listened to the radio for the seven minutes. The only problem I had was the fact that I took my glasses off to tan and I kinda fell out of the machine when I was trying to get out because I missed a step. Aside from that (because no one saw) it was a good experience and I will be going back tomorrow.

Birchbox: December 2011...

Wednesday, December 14, 2011

My December Birchbox came in and I got some pretty neat things this month.

• BY TERRY Hyaluronic Face Glow • Incoco® Nail Polish Appliqué
• Jouer Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Birchbox Pink • Kate Spade New York Twirl •
• ShowStoppers Designer Fashion Tape • eBoost Orange Natural Energy Booster •

I cannot wait to try the Incoco® Nail Polish Appliqués! They are so pretty! I want to put them on now, but I'm going to save them for New Years Eve. I'm also going to save the fashion tape and throw it in my bag for Las Vegas because it seems like something I might end up needing while getting dressed for the wedding -- If you don't know anything about the wedding, I post about it in my other blog.

The shipper label on this months box said Box 11. So, I'm not really sure how the labeling really works from them seeing as last month I got Box 5. I don't know if it is an arbitrary number or if it actually means something. Anyways, as always as soon as Lenni posts her Birchbox contents I'll link to it.

I purchased all items mentioned with my own money. My opinions have not been sponsored or solicited by anyone, but if you wanna send me free stuff I'd totally take it, try it & give you my honest opinion of it.Link

Birchbox Review: Choco Pod...

Monday, December 5, 2011

I know this isn't really beauty related, but it came in my November Birchbox so I'm reviewing it. I just ate the Choco Pod Firecracker by Chuao Chocolatier, which is a dark chocolate, chipotle, salt and popping candy chocolate. And I must say I thought it was amazing and I am not a big chocolate person.

The dark chocolate was a perfect. It had a wonderful pop from the popping candies (Which I love normally) and it had a subtile after note of the chiles. I thought it was perfectly balanced and that it tasted great.

You can order it online and there is a link on the Chuao Chocolatier's website to do so. At $18.00 plus shipping for a pack of three 80g/2.82oz bars, it's kinda pricey but for a once in a blue moon splurge I say go crazy. I'll be ordering some because I really feel like I know people who would love it.

Information from the back of the packaging...
For Nutritional Information Call toll free (888) 635-1444

Ingredients: Premium dark chocolate (60% cacau, sugar, cacao butter, soy lecithin [as an emulsifier], natural vanilla), popping candy (sugar, corn glucose, lactose, carbon dioxide), pasilla chile, chipotle chile, salt.

Contains: Milk, soy
Manufactured in a facility that uses tree nuts, milk and wheat in other products
I purchased all items mentioned with my own money. My opinions have not been sponsored or solicited by anyone, but if you wanna send me free stuff I'd totally take it, try it & give you my honest opinion of it.

Spotted: Hello Kitty Shirt...

I was futzing around on the various websites and I noticed the poster for the up coming Charlize Theron movie Young Adult (2011) and I saw that she is wearing the H&M Hello Kitty shirt that I worn on my second day in London last summer. I don't know, it's stupid and dorky but it made me happy. I love that shirt because it reminds me of so many wonderful memories from London, as well as my entire trip to Europe last summer with Erin.

Things I Did Wearing The Hello Kitty Shirt:

  • "Held up" Big Ben
  • Rode on the Eye of London
  • Took a tour of Buckingham Palace & had tea outside in the garden
  • Visited the Royal Mews
  • Wandered around Trafalgar Square
  • Visited Piccadilly Circus
  • Had a creepy British guy outside of a pub call out "Ello Kittahh..." as I walked past
  • Took pictures in a red telephone box
I don't have a good picture of me wearing the shirt, thus I didn't put one up. But it is actually the shirt I have on in the picture next to the one with me in the pink wig and sunglasses on my banner. It is actually a picture of my on the Eye of London.

Nail Polish Crazy...

Saturday, December 3, 2011

Last night I was supposed to babysit Erin's nieces with her, so because the oldest of the two is obsessed with nail polish like your truly I put almost my entire nail polish collection into my train case and a bag to bring to their house to show her -- Erin was bragging about how much nail polish I own to her. They ended up not needing us to come over so I ended up going over to Justin's mother's house and I brought all my nail polish in because I thought that the girls would get a kick out of it. They were thrilled when they saw all of the nail polish. So much so that they decided to count every bottle I had with me and the oldest did the math to figure out about how much I spent on it all (I gave her a price in the middle to figure out the price of my collection).

Here are 170 bottles of various brands of nail polish, averaged at a cost of over $1,100...

Brands Include:

  • OPI
  • Orly
  • China Glaze
  • Butter London
  • Essie
  • NARS
  • M·A·C
  • Zoya
  • Nubar
  • Savina
  • Sally Hansen
  • Nicole by OPI
  • Claire's Mood For Thought
  • Forever 21 Love & Beauty Polish
  • H&M Polish
  • Nail art polish
  • Miscellaneous drugs store brands
I know I have more nail polish than this. My mother and sister both borrow bottles because I have almost every color and finish anyone could possibly want (i.e. - Glitter, matte, creme, metallic, color changing, holographic, crackle, etc.) .

I purchased all items mentioned with my own money. My opinions have not been sponsored or solicited by anyone, but if you wanna send me free stuff I'd totally take it, try it & give you my honest opinion of it.

Open Box: M·A·C Iced Delights Rocking...

Friday, November 18, 2011

I just got a package in the mail from M·A·C that I ordered a few days ago and I thought that I'd do an open box kinda deal with it. I ordered the limited edition Iced Delights Nail & Lip Bag in Rocking which cost me $36.00. I found a coupon code for free shipping, so with tax it cost me about $39.00.

Honestly, if it wasn't for the lipstick (Kanga Rouge) which is my favorite M·A·C lipstick color ever (It was a limited edition color from the Dame Edna collection of 2008) I would have never bought this bag.
  1. I don't purchase M·A·C nail polish because I refuse to spend $15.00 on it and it this one looks like any old red to me.
  2. The Lipglass (Golden Blanket) is nice enough but I'll probably end up in my card catalog and I'll forget about it.
  3. The bag it comes in reminds me of Jiffy Pop because of its shape and the silver in it.
I purchased all items mentioned with my own money. My opinions have not been sponsored or solicited by anyone, but if you wanna send me free stuff I'd totally take it, try it & give you my honest opinion of it.

Birchbox: November 2011...

Monday, November 7, 2011

My November Birchbox came in and here are the contents...

• Anastasia Beverly Hills HydraFull Gloss in Sugar Pink •
• Harvey Prince Eau Flirt • Supersmile Professional WhitentingToothpaste •
• Zoya Nail Polish in Holly • Chuao Chocolatier Firecracker Chocopod •

I'm super excited that I got nail polish! I can't wait to try it on because I don't think I have a color like it in my collection and if I like it I will definitely be running to my local beauty supply store to get a full sized bottle to add to my already too big nail polish collection.

This month it actually said Box 5 on the shipping label if you were interesting in knowing which box I had gotten. When I find out what other products were avalible for the other boxes I'll make a post about it. I'll also make a post linking to Lenni's blog whenever she gets her November Birchbox.

I purchased all items mentioned with my own money. My opinions have not been sponsored or solicited by anyone, but if you wanna send me free stuff I'd totally take it, try it & give you my honest opinion of it.

My First Birchbox: October 2011...

Thursday, October 13, 2011

Last month I subscribed to Birchbox, which is a month makeup sample subscription thingy that sends you four to five high end beauty product samples every month for the low low price of $10 per month -- Yeah, I know that was stated oddly... Here is the explanation of what Birchbox is from the website in case you didn't understand my description.

What Is Birchbox?
Birchbox delivers the best products and the best insider secrets, without any fuss. Every month Birchbox members will receive a curated box of luxe beauty samples. Each box will span beauty categories and deliver exciting products that fit into both your day-to-day routine, and into those days when you want to turn up the drama a notch.

Each month, you'll receive a selection of 4-5 samples that we’ve tried (and retried) ourselves. You'll receive anything from skincare to makeup to cult beauty tools, from well-known brands as well as emerging gems [for $10.00 a month].

Wednesday Wishlist...

Wednesday, October 12, 2011

Even though I haven't posted a Wednesday Wishlist in a while I must say I've been pinning things on Pinterest* to post here and here are some of the newest things I love...

They are just number rings but I think they are awesome.

(via: Lulu Frost)

If I had my own iPad I'd totally get myself one of these.
Unfortunately my mom wouldn't think it was as neat
as I think it is. She'd think it was lame knowing her.

(via: SpinningHat)

This coat is just too pretty.

(via: AOISOS)

I swear I would never use my NYC Subway apps
again if I had this on my wrist. I love it!!!

(via: Uncommon Goods)

If you read my other blog you know that I am
obsessed with old Volkswagen Beetles and this
one is just extra awesome because it is pink
and it is a convertible. This is my dream car.

Outlet Shopping With My BFF...

Wednesday, September 21, 2011

Erin and I decided that we needed to go shopping this fine evening, so we went to the Tanger Outlets in Deer Park to see if we could find. Our main mission was to find boots, I unfortunately didn't find a pair but Erin did -- She got a pair from Nine West®.

But just because I didn't find boots doesn't mean I didn't buy anything. I went to the Cosmetics Company Store and bought a few M·A·C items, but that was really it. I'm still happy with what I did get even though I didn't end up with boots.

  • Mineralize Skinfinish (Petticoat) - $19.75 ($28.00) *
  • Mineralize Eye Shadow (Sea & Sky) - $13.75 ($20.00) **
  • Greasepaint Stick (V) - $12.25 ($) ***
  • Lipgelée (Moonstone) - $10.25 ($14.50) ****
  • Lustre Drops (Pink Rebel) - $13.00 ($19.50) *****
* = This was a limited edition product from the 2010 In The Groove collection. Also I Already owned this, but I loved it so much that I had to buy an extra one seeing as I cannot just go to M·A·C and buy it when I want.
** = This was a limited edition product from the 2008 Electroflash collection
*** = This was a limited edition product from the 2009 DSquared collection
**** = This was a limited edition product from the Lipgelée collection
***** = The one I bought was in the 2010 limited edition packaging from the To The Beach collection, but it is a permanent product and you can still buy it.

I purchased all items mentioned with my own money. My opinions have not been sponsored or solicited by anyone, but if you wanna send me free stuff I'd totally take it, try it & give you my honest opinion of it.

Shop Like A Misfit...

If you read my other blog you already know all about "Julia" and that I typically wouldn't post here about her seeing as this is my fashion blog, but she was talking to "Emily" before she left this evening about going home and doing some shopping. "Emily" suggested trying the Lord & Taylor website, etc. But "Julia" said that she had catalogs that she was going to look through and she was mainly going to pick stuff from The Vermont Country Store. As soon as she left "Emily" and I went on the website and all we could do was laugh. All these years I couldn't figure out where she get her ugly ass clothing from. Now knowing where she buys her ugly clothing has inspired me to post my favorite websites to shop from because not all librarians are unstylish hags.
